"...unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of Heaven."

Matthew 18:3

Our Lord's words refer to our initial conversion, but also our continuous conversion.  If we begin to trust in our abilities instead of God's we will produce consequences of which God will hold us responsible.

In other words we are to be putting on "the new man."  God holds us accountable every time we refuse this continuous conversion, and He sees this as willful disobedience.  Our natural life must never rule in us, we must allow God to rule in us.

To refuse to be continuously converted puts a stumbling block in the growth of your spiritual life.  There are entire areas of our lives that have not been brought under submission, and this can only be done by God's continuous conversion.
