"...from that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more."

John 6:66

Deserter or Disciple?

When God by His Spirit gives you a clear vision of His will, you must "walk in the light" of that vision.  Don't compare yourself to others and judge them-that is between God and them.  "You follow Me".  Our tendency is to lie back and relax in the memory of the experience when God revealed His will to us.  If we do not act upon that experience immediately; we will begin to backslide.

Backsliding is simply; our conscience not responding to the truth set before us.  This is why in John 6 "many of His disciples" deserted Him.

When we find that one of our favorite views on life clashes with the heavenly will of God, we begin to debate it.  A sense of personal rights emerge within us, something of which Jesus placed no value.  "...for one's life does not consist in the abundance of things he possesses"  (Luke 12:15)

Therefore the moment truth is revealed by God's will; that moment marks you as either one who will continue with Him or one who will desert Him.  How now will you respond at the next moment of truth?
