The woman said to Him, "Sir, You have nothing to draw (water) with and the well is deep."
John 4: 11

Have you ever said, "I am impressed with the wonderful truths of God's Word, but He can't really expect me to live up to that and work all those details into my life!"  We believe that His ideals are high and lofty and they impress us, but we also believe that He is out of touch with reality, that what He says can not really be done.  While we talk a big talk we are thinking, "where would we get money to live?"  How will I live and who would take care of me?  Or we say to Him that our circumstances are a little to difficult for Him.

We say, "It is easy to trust in the Lord," but a person has to live, and besides, Jesus has nothing to draw water with, He has no means to give us these things.  Our problems arise from the fact that we search within to find out how He will do what He says.  Our doubts spring from our own inabilities.  Hence our reason for not serving Him comes from our doubting of His abilities.  We do not believe in God's power but in our own.

O Lord what a wonderful truth it is to find that all I need is You!!!
