From your Pastor;

       Another also said, “I will follow You, Lord; but first permit me to say good-bye to those at home.”  But Jesus said to him, “No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”                                                                          Luke 9:61,62

     One of the greatest challenges for Christians is actually following Jesus, and  pursuing His purpose for our life without looking back.
     Imagine driving your car forward while looking only in the rearview mirror. You would do well just to stay in your lane and avoid a collision. So it is with Jesus’ illustration of plowing. Round here everyone knows to plow in a straight line or else the planting of your crops will be disastrous.
      Both positive or negative moments in our past lives can become a distraction.
       Past success, failure, relationships, career, circumstances or insecurities. All can be a distraction if we do not “forget what lies behind, and reach for what lies ahead”.  Thus the term “born again.”
       In the verse above it’s interesting that the man is distracted by something we would consider positive; his home and family. What is Jesus saying? I believe He’s saying, if we allow even what is a blessing to become more important than Him or His purposes, we have become distracted.
   As you continue to follow Jesus, be aware of the distraction of the rearview mirror of life. Remember, don’t settle for the good life, but press on toward the great life awaiting you in Christ Jesus.
